Where Charlotte Amelia is Made
Every Charlotte Amelia piece is handmade in the USA by MOXIE Collective, a women owned manufacturer committed to ethical craftsmanship. I chose to work with them not only for their quality and care but because their values reflect mine. They approach production with intention, fairness, and deep respect for every person involved.
What Touches Your Skin Matters
For the Serenity collection, I searched for a fabric that felt as good as it looked. It needed to be soft, breathable, and free from harmful chemicals. I chose a premium TENCEL™ Modal Stretch Jersey, a biodegradable fabric made from sustainably harvested beechwood.
This fabric is certified under OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, meaning it has been independently tested and confirmed safe for skin contact. The certification is held by my fabric supplier, and you can view it here.
This level of safety and verification is not exclusive to one launch. It is a core value of Charlotte Amelia and a standard I will continue to uphold across all future sourcing.
How we dye our fabrics
We only use fabrics dyed with low-impact fiber reactive dyes. These are a safer and more responsible alternative to conventional dyeing.
Low impact dyes are to bond well with fabric, which allows for longer-lasting color and uses less water, salt, and energy in the process. They are also free from heavy metals, AZO compounds, and chemicals fixatives- substances that can be harmful to both people and the environment.
Why we choose TENCEL™ Modal
TENCEL™ Modal is a plant-based fiber made from renewable beechwood trees. Unlike synthetic fabrics made from fossil fuels, it is fully biodegradable and derived from natural resources.
Sustainable Sourcing
Sourced from FSC® and PEFC-certified forests, ensuring responsible forestry practices

-
Trees are replanted to maintain ecological balance
Closed-loop, low-impact production
TENCEL™ Modal is produced in a closed-loop system that reuses over 95% of the water and chemicals involved in manufacturing, significantly reducing environmental impact.
-
Lower emissions through Lenzing’s Edelweiss® technology
-
Minimal water waste—production uses up to 95% less water than cotton
-
Non-toxic processing—unlike traditional viscose, which often relies on hazardous chemicals
Are chemicals used in production?
Yes, but unlike traditional viscose, which often relies on hazardous chemicals such as carbon disulfide, TENCEL™ Modal is made using non-toxic chemicals in a closed-loop system that prevents waste and contamination.
-
TENCEL™ Modal does not use organic solvents like TENCEL™ Lyocell, but its processing chemicals are carefully managed and do not remain in the final fabric.
-
The fabric is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, ensuring it is completely free from harmful substances and safe for skin contact.
-
No toxic residues are left behind, making it a gentle and responsible choice for everyday wear.
